Getting Around
... by car or truck Shelby County offers easy access to five major interstate highways: I-74, I-65, I-69, I-70 and I-465. Shelby County is also served by State Roads 9, 44, 244 and US 52. I-65 runs along the western edge of the county, connecting to Shelbyville via State Road 44. State Road 9 bisects directly through downtown Shelbyville and intersects State Road 44 and connects with I-70 and I-69 north of the Indianapolis. I-74 connects Cincinnati to Indianapolis and runs the entire length of the County. Shelby County is only minutes from the” Crossroads of America,” Shelbyville affords many opportunities for business and individuals alike the ease to travel from one point to another very quickly.

... via truck terminal
Shelby County is served by 65 motor freight companies, many which have terminals in Shelby County, two terminals are in Shelbyville. In addition, Shelbyville is served by all overnight delivery services, such as UPS and Federal Express.

... air
Shelby County is served by the Shelbyville Municipal Airport, which has one 5,000 foot runway that can handle both private and small business aircraft. Forty-two planes are currently based out of the Shelbyville Airport. Corporate jets fly in and out on a daily basis and are handled with ease. Scheduled commercial airline service is available at nearby Indianapolis International Airport, which is served by 14 commercial passenger carriers, and Cincinnati International Airport.

... rail
CSX Transportation, Inc. provides main line rail service thru the county. They are the premier intermodal service provider in the nation; CSX Intermodal serves more major markets than any other intermodal provider. CSX’s comprehensive service network provides access to most major U.S. ports as well as expanded routing to and from the Northeast, the largest manufacturing and consumer base in the nation. And when you combine that reach with 48 terminals and more than 300 dedicated intermodal trains per week, you can be assured of quality, reliable service. Indiana has 4,255 railroad route miles, of which 91% are operated by Class I railroads, principally CSX and Norfolk Southern(NS). The remaining miles are operated by 37 regional, local, and switching & terminal railroads.

... water
The nearest navigable waterway is the Ohio River. Our first port location is an easy drive down I-65 to The American Commercial Barge Line Company in Jeffersonville which handles barge and ship traffic and offers complete services to maintain and transport materials to barges. They handle millions of tons of goods every year. The second and closest port is the Port of Cincinnati which also handles barge and ship traffic with convenient access to I-74 and is serviced by CSX. Our strategic location to both of these Interstates along with intermodal train loading capabilities makes us an excellent gateway to the Mississippi River Region as well as the Midwest and Eastern locations serviced by the Ohio River. The only red tape you’ll find around here is the ribbon you’ll cut to open your new facility.
