Debra has been a long-time resident of Shelby County, living all of her adult life in the Morristown area.

She helps new industries with various needs as they become acclimated in the community and assists existing local manufacturers with expansion projects.

She began working at SCDC in 2005, and before that worked at Blue River Community Foundation during the day and attended college in the evenings.  Debra received a Lilly Scholarship which enabled her to earn an Associate's Degree in Computer Science.  She has also completed many classes at Ball State University and is close to completing the BSU General Studies Degree.  

Her husband and Morristown native, Neil, share two sons and a granddaughter. 

Debra has been a member of the Shelby County Arts Fest Committee for 15 years – serving as president for the last four years. The committee members are all volunteers who organize events such as Arts in the Park and Intro to Arts, to promote arts education in Shelby County. 

She is also a member of many other councils and committees. She has dedicated time to several programs throughout the community including the Morristown Literacy Council, volunteering with the Morristown Visionary Committee, Rock Steady Boxing Shelby County, and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in the Morristown school district.
